Saturday Morning

A morning of driving that isn't the track.

Saturday at 944Fest stacks up fast. HPDE runs the Full Course all day. Parade laps at lunch. Car show lineup at The Gallery in the afternoon, then dinner and awards to close it out. And in the middle of all that, this: the Road Rally, a scenic drive to lunch in the foothills west of the track.

The cap was fifty cars seventy cars. The first fifty sold out, we found room for twenty more, and those went too. If you're in, "drive somewhere good with people who get it" is your morning.

Lunch At The Destination

The Drive

Good roads, all the way to lunch.

Everything you need shows up in your rally packet, handed over when you sign in at the event: the destination, two routes, and route notes for each. Waves leave from The Gallery between 7:00 and 9:00 Saturday morning. Head out whenever your group is ready; be rolling by 9:00.

Lunch is the finish line.

Both routes are scenic, winding roads to the same lunch spot. Expect farm roads, mountain roads, and a lot of twists and turns. Not a lot of red lights, not a lot of highways. The routes pass gas stations and places to stop along the way, and steer clear of cities, towns, and anything congested.

Each car gets a Rally bag with essentials, including car decals and other adventure consumables.

A light lunch is waiting at the destination at 11:30, included for up to two people per car.

No clock on the afternoon, either. Make it back whenever suits you, hop in the car show lineup at The Gallery, and settle in before dinner and awards that evening.

One thing to be clear about: this is a drive, not a race. No clocks, no scoring, no checkpoints. You get the destination and two good routes up front; take ours or find your own. Your car, your pace, real roads, real traffic laws.

In The Packet

Two Routes To Lunch

Your packet has two routes, both scenic, both winding, both ending at the same lunch spot. Pick whichever one reads better over breakfast.

The Loop

Make It A Loop

Take one route out and the other back, and you've driven the full loop. Or rerun the one that grabbed you. Nobody's checking.

The Long Way

Make It A Whole Day

Leaving earlier buys you more road. The packet includes shorter bonus loops from the destination and back, for anyone who wants a full day of driving.
